Saudi Arabia's energy minister Abdul Aziz said at the International Atomic Energy Agency conference held in Vienna yesterday that Saudi Arabia has discovered 110 million tons of uranium deposits in the Medina region. The minister called this discovery “one of the most important rare earth discoveries in the world” because exploration and geological research showed that the mineral resource contains high concentrations of rare earth elements, especially heavy rare earth elements, and also contains promising uranium ore. This discovery, stemming from Jabbar Saeed's exploration project, comes at a time when Saudi Arabia is making a big push to increase investment in the energy and mining sector. As the largest economy in the Arab world, the country is planning to continue investing in diversified development in these two key areas.
