Whether they are cutting-edge models or open source weight models, they themselves are dangerous.” Kurtz believes that regardless of whether cutting-edge labs slow down development, there will always be a need for cybersecurity because potentially risky models are already in use. “The security industry has a responsibility to help protect at least the models that are already in use, and the pace at which cutting-edge models evolve is determined by themselves,” he said.
