Listen to the news

Daytona Beach, Florida-based Brown & Brown, Inc. (BRO) markets and sells insurance products and services in the United States and internationally. Valued at a market cap of $22.9 billion, the company operates through Retail and Specialty Distribution segments and provides property and casualty insurance, employee benefits insurance, personal insurance, specialty insurance, and more.

Companies with a market cap of $10 billion or more are typically called “large-cap stocks.” BRO fits squarely into that category, with a market cap above this threshold that reflects its substantial size and influence in the insurance brokers industry.

However, the stock currently trades 29.2% below its 52-week high of $96.55 recorded on Oct. 8, 2025. BRO has grown 13.9% over the past three months, outperforming the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF’s (XLF6.2% rise during the same time frame.

In the longer term, BRO has delivered a different performance. The stock has declined 27% over the past 52 weeks, underperforming the 6% surge of XLF over the same period. BRO has been trading below its 200-day and 50-day moving averages since this month.

On July 28, BRO stock rose 5.7% after it released mixed Q2 2026 earnings. The company’s revenue for the period rose by a robust 30.4% from the prior year’s quarter to $1.7 billion, but missed the consensus estimates. Moreover, its adjusted EPS came in at $1.07, which was in line with Wall Street’s forecasts. Investors looked past the revenue shortfall and focused on strong year-over-year growth and in-line earnings.

When stacked against its rival, Erie Indemnity Company (ERIE) has declined 21.3% over the past year, outperforming BRO.

Wall Street’s view of BRO stock is skeptical. Among the 22 analysts covering the stock, the overall consensus rating is “Hold.” Its mean price target of $76.65 offers a 13.9% upside potential.
