Tech giants have been added to the AI threat theory camp! CRM.US (CRM.US) CEO Benioff steps up: AI risks cannot be ignored; giants must consider the public interest

The Zhitong Finance App learned that CRM.US (CRM.US) CEO Mark Benioff became the latest technology leader to call for responsible action in the artificial intelligence industry on Tuesday — a call that is heating up as increasingly powerful models are used more widely.

His statement comes at a time of growing controversy surrounding AI security. What recently ignited this debate was an article published by Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei over the weekend calling for cutting-edge AI labs to slow down model development so that security measures have more time to keep up.

Benioff has always implored technology companies to consider the greater public interest. Over the years, he has been bluntly criticizing social media companies and their impact on society, and in 2018 he declared “Facebook is the new cigarette” and called on the government to step up regulation of the industry.

Now, he's warning AI companies not to repeat the same mistakes.

In an interview with Jim Cramer, Benioff said, “Many companies have been hurt, and many individuals have been hurt through social media.” “We don't want this to happen again on AI.”

This warning is particularly noteworthy, given Saifushi's deep relationships with companies at the cutting edge of the AI boom. Last month, Seflex launched Claudeforce, which includes a plug-in that allows customers to use Anthropic's Claude to access customer data stored in Seflex and perform tasks such as composing emails and updating records.

On Tuesday, Amoudai appeared on stage at Benioff's keynote address and said, “I think this is the way to lead the industry forward — setting an example and showing that everyone can do better.”

Benioff did not go as far as criticizing AI companies or supporting calls to slow AI development. Instead, he argues, the company building the technology has a responsibility to consider its broader consequences while moving forward.

“We want AI to manage these matters, take responsibility, handle these actions well, and be ethical,” Benioff said. “At the core of ethics is responsibility.”

He added, “We're really watching our peers in San Francisco and around the world and saying to them, “We want your actions to be ethical, and we want you to treat your community and the world in an ethical way because this technology is so powerful.”

Saiflex shares on Tuesday retracted part of the previous trading day's increase of more than 4.5%. On Monday, enterprise software stocks surged due to Amodei's call to slow down AI development. The sector suffered a sharp decline earlier this year due to concerns about AI disruption, and has been picking up over the past few months as Wall Street has begun to accept the view that AI cannot replace everything.
