According to local media quoting Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam may face a shortage of electricity from 2027 due to delays in power generation and grid projects. Electricity supply is expected to meet demand in 2026, but rising consumption and delays in new projects could cause electricity shortages to begin next year. By 2027, Vietnam may face an installed capacity gap of about 4,200 megawatts and a power gap of about 2.9 billion kilowatt-hours. By 2030, this gap could widen to around 13,900 megawatts and 61.2 billion kilowatt-hours.
