UK's Annual Inflation Accelerates to 3.1% in August

The latest reading aligned with market forecasts. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.5%, as expected, against the 0.3% increase in the previous month. Meanwhile, the UK's annual core inflation rate was 2.6%, unchanged from the prior month and matching market expectations. Month over month, core consumer prices gained 0.3%, in line with the consensus estimate and above the previous 0.2% rise.
