Empire Metals Joins Australian Government-backed Critical Metals Research Program

07:08 AM EDT, 09/16/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Empire Metals (EEE.L) said Wednesday its research project with Murdoch University is now part of an Australian government-backed critical metals program. The London-listed exploration and development company's research will explore the production of titanium metal directly from titanium dioxide from Empire's Pitfield project through molten salt electrolysis and other metal conversion technologies. The first phases are expected to wrap up in early 2027. The Critical Metals for Critical Industries CRC initiative was set up under the Australian government's Cooperative Research Centres Program.
