08:09 AM EDT, 09/16/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Sports betting and gambling company Entain (ENT.L) plans to cut 400 jobs at its customer care department across multiple locations amid rising costs and the proposed increase in machine games duty in the UK. Entain told MT Newswires on Wednesday that it is launching a consultation process related to the planned changes in its customer care operations, adding that the process is separate from the company's wider policy discussions. Meanwhile, Entain Chief Executive Stella David wrote a letter to the UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham outlining concerns about the proposed increase in the tax rate on the machine games to 40%, saying the move would result in substantial job losses and shop closures across the sector.
