SpaceX (SPCX) shares are pushing higher on Wednesday after Cathie Wood, the influential chief executive of ARK Invest, said Starship could be generating $10 trillion in annual revenue by 2030. Elon Musk responded to her ambitious forecast on X, saying it’s “not impossible.”
SpaceX stock has been a volatile ride for investors since its debut in June. As of writing, it’s down about 25% versus its year-to-date high.
SPCX shares are extending gains this morning after Cathie Wood said every operational Starship launch could bring in up to $1 billion in connectivity revenue by rapidly deploying next-generation Starlink V3 satellites.
Extrapolating Musk’s ambitious target of 10,000 flights a year by the end of this decade, she argued that SpaceX could realistically achieve $10 trillion in annual revenue within the next five years.
According to ARK experts, each Starship payload adds about 61 Tbps of bandwidth, supercharging global Starlink capacity ahead of the upcoming revenue-generating Flight 14 scheduled for next week on Sept. 22.
All in all, Cathie Wood’s estimate makes SPCX’s current $2 trillion valuation look like a bargain in hindsight.
The bull thesis for SpaceX shares relies largely on the firm’s unmatched launch capabilities, orbital AI data center expansion, and Starlink’s explosive cash flow funding deep-space infrastructure.
However, trading at a price-to-sales (P/S) multiple of over 100x while remaining unprofitable, the space infrastructure and AI giant is not inexpensive to own in 2026.
For long-term, growth-focused investors who believe in Starship’s operational scale, buying SPCX at the current price offers generational upside, though short-term volatility remains likely, especially given upcoming lockup expiries and significant execution challenges.
Crucially, Wall Street analysts recommend looking beyond valuation concerns and investing in SPCX stock today.
According to Barchart, the consensus rating on billionaire Elon Musk’s company sits at “Moderate Buy” currently, with the mean price target of about $221 indicating potential upside of more than 45% from here.
