On September 17, AstraZeneca announced an investment of nearly 200 million yuan to upgrade the new drug development and supply building at the Wuxi production and supply base to support the global supply of innovative cardiovascular drugs under development, production and commercialization. The project has a construction area of about 5,800 square meters. It is scheduled to be put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2029, with an estimated annual production capacity of 400 million pieces. This investment is expected to propel the Wuxi base into AstraZeneca's Asia Pacific region's first base with global marketing and supply capabilities for new drugs. It is also part of AstraZeneca's “Invest over 100 billion yuan in China by 2030” plan.
