According to statistics from Shanghai Customs, in the first eight months of this year, Shanghai achieved a total of 3.44 trillion yuan in imports and exports, an increase of 17.1% over the previous year. Among them, in August, Shanghai overcame the adverse effects of the two typhoons. Foreign trade continued the growth trend of the previous seven months, with imports and exports increasing by 13.1%, exports by 16.1%, and imports by 10.5%. In the first eight months, Shanghai's imports and exports to ASEAN amounted to 546.2 billion yuan, an increase of 30.6%. ASEAN has maintained Shanghai's largest trading partner status for 4 consecutive months since May, with Vietnam and Singapore increasing by 78.3% and 31.4% respectively; imports and exports to South Korea increased by 64.3%, of which exports increased 1.3 times. In August alone, Shanghai's imports from Africa increased by 21.8%, and the dividends of the zero-tariff policy continued to be released. Over the same period, exports to the US increased by 13.2%, and have continued to grow since April. Looking at key products, the total import and export of the five AI-related products, including integrated circuits, servers, memory, hard drives, and semiconductor manufacturing equipment, increased by 90.7% in the first eight months, accounting for 24.9% of Shanghai's total import and export value during the same period. Over the same period, exports of the “new three” products increased by 78.2%.
