Annexin Pharmaceuticals Doses First Patient in Expanded Retinal Vein Occlusion Trial

06:32 AM EDT, 09/17/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Annexin Pharmaceuticals (ANNX.ST) said Thursday the first patient has been dosed under the expanded patient cohort in the study evaluating drug candidate vanexin for patients with retinal vein occlusion. The first patient was treated with an anti-VEGF injection, followed shortly by treatment with vanexin. The biotechnology company said the patient completed the Day 15 follow-up visit, with no adverse events observed to date. The Nexus study, conducted in the UK and Germany, was expanded in August to include patients with RVO who have received initial treatment with anti-vascular endothelial growth factor, or anti-VEGF, in addition to vanexin monotherapy. Annexin plans to include up to three patients in the cohort. The design is intended as a preparatory step ahead of a planned phase 2b study.
