MoonPay deal puts WisdomTree’s tokenized funds in front of more retail investors

WisdomTree (WT) has entered a collaboration with crypto infrastructure provider MoonPay, centered on the WisdomTree Treasury Money Market Digital Fund, a tokenized money market mutual fund known as WTGXX.

The arrangement aims to make WTGXX easier to access for U.S. retail investors through MoonPay’s platform and network, while MoonPay plans to use the fund within its stablecoin reserve management framework.

WisdomTree’s latest move with MoonPay comes at a time when momentum in the shares has cooled in the very short term but remains strong over longer periods. The stock’s 1-day share price return of 3.73% lifted it to US$23.07, even though the 7-day and 30-day share price returns declined 3.59% and 1.87% respectively. By contrast, the 90-day share price return of 23.63%, year-to-date share price return of 84.41%, and 1-year total shareholder return of 58.42% all point to investors already pricing in significant progress and paying close attention to new growth initiatives.

WisdomTree now trades only modestly below analyst targets, yet the MoonPay tie up leans into a very different growth story. Is the market’s caution still warranted as that thesis unfolds, or is it already stretched?

Most Popular Narrative: 2% Undervalued

WisdomTree’s most followed valuation narrative pegs fair value at about $23.47, sitting just above the last close at $23.07. This leaves only a narrow margin for error but leans in favor of the bulls.

The analysts have a consensus price target of $23.47 for WisdomTree based on their expectations of its future earnings growth, profit margins and other risk factors. However, there is a degree of disagreement amongst analysts, with the most bullish reporting a price target of $27.0, and the most bearish reporting a price target of just $18.3.

Result: Fair Value of $23.47 (UNDERVALUED)

Still, WisdomTree’s story can break if fee compression bites harder than expected or if digital asset regulation curbs appetite for tokenized funds like WTGXX.

Another View on WisdomTree’s Valuation

Analysts see WisdomTree as only about 2% undervalued relative to a fair value of $23.47, yet the current P/E of 42.5x tells a tougher story. That multiple sits above the US Capital Markets industry on 39.6x, the peer average on 15.8x, and even a fair ratio of 23.5x. This combination signals meaningful valuation risk if sentiment cools.

Before leaning too heavily on that premium, it is worth asking whether the earnings outlook really justifies paying almost double the fair ratio, or if expectations have already run ahead of what the business can deliver.
