06:08 AM EDT, 09/20/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms (FB2A.F) lodged another appeal with the Upper Tribunal in the UK regarding Ofcom's Online Safety Act, London's Financial Times reported Sunday, adding that the media regulator received notice of the legal challenge this week. The parent company of Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram claimed that Category 1 duties under the act - such as user protection from fraudulent ads and additional reporting on illegal content - do not apply to private one-to-one and small-group messaging. Separately, online game platform Roblox and social question-and-answer website Quora have also taken Ofcom to court over the categorization of their services. Ofcom and Meta did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires. (Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally.
