Some Maiyue Technology Limited (HKG:2501) shareholders may be a little concerned to see that the Co-CEO & Executive Director, Shanmin Ye, recently sold a substantial HK$25m worth of stock at a price of HK$1.18 per share. Probably the most concerning element of the whole transaction is that the disposal amounted to 67% of their entire holding.
Notably, that recent sale by Shanmin Ye is the biggest insider sale of Maiyue Technology shares that we've seen in the last year. That means that even when the share price was below the current price of HK$2.07, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. However, while insider selling is sometimes discouraging, it's only a weak signal. We note that the biggest single sale was 67% of Shanmin Ye's holding.
In the last year Maiyue Technology insiders didn't buy any company stock. You can see a visual depiction of insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last 12 months, below. If you want to know exactly who sold, for how much, and when, simply click on the graph below!

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that Maiyue Technology insiders own 8.6% of the company, worth about HK$100m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
Insiders haven't bought Maiyue Technology stock in the last three months, but there was some selling. Looking to the last twelve months, our data doesn't show any insider buying.
