Entering the traditional “Golden Nine” property market peak season, transactions in the second-hand housing market in Shanghai continued to rise. According to online real estate data, 1,495 second-hand housing units were signed online in a single day in Shanghai on September 19, a record high of single-day online signings since the second half of 2026; as of September 19, a total of 15,597 second-hand housing units were sold in Shanghai in September, an increase of 28% over the previous year. Yan Yuejin, deputy director of the Shanghai Yiju Real Estate Research Institute, analyzed that second-hand housing sales in Shanghai have continued their high level since this year. Judging from the daily data, the Shanghai property market is currently showing positive performance. In its view, as the holiday season approaches, some online signing data will show a centralized signing phenomenon due to workday adjustments. This will amplify single-day fluctuations to a certain extent, but overall it still reflects that the market transaction chassis is at a good level. Front-end indicators such as referrals and customer inquiries from leading intermediaries in Shanghai also continued to pick up. According to data from Shanghai Chainjia, from September 1 to 19, the number of second-hand housing listings on the platform increased by 13.4% compared to the same period in August, and the number of customer inquiries increased by 5.4%.
