XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) is up 5.5% in the last 24 hours as of 1:41 p.m. ET on Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, as falling oil prices and Treasury yields sparked a broad market rebound.

The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite were up 1.4% and 2%, respectively.

Oil prices and treasury yields are falling

Oil prices surged to their highest levels in months last week, with Brent Crude, an international benchmark, topping $109 a barrel. As traders worried this would drive already stubborn inflation higher, U.S. Treasury yields also spiked, with the 10-year reaching 5.04%.

On Monday, oil prices and Treasury yields fell. Positive signals from the Middle East drove Brent Crude below $100 a barrel, and the 10-year Treasury yield hit 4.96%.

XRP is sensitive to movements in the bond market. Typically, higher rates lead investors out of risky assets like cryptocurrencies, while falling rates lead them back in.

XRP has some momentum

The changing macro environment, mixed with positive regulatory news at the end of last week, has led to a multi-day rally for the banking token.

There's certainly a lot to like for Ripple, the company behind XRP, but I'm not sure it will translate to XRP in the way investors are hoping.
