UN Secretary General Guterres delivered his last speech during his tenure at the 81st session of the General Assembly on September 22, urging world leaders to end wars, regulate artificial intelligence, pay attention to climate change, and comprehensively reform UN agencies that are struggling to cope with increasingly serious global challenges. Guterres pointed out that at present, global geopolitical differences are deepening, inequality is increasing, challenges brought about by the climate crisis and artificial intelligence continue to rise, and the “fault line is widening” in the world. Meanwhile, the global power landscape is undergoing profound changes. On the Middle East issue, Guterres called on world leaders to promote “demotion and dialogue” during the high-level meeting week of the General Assembly. He stressed that “the fighting must stop, access to humanitarian aid must be unobstructed, and navigation rights and freedom must be fully restored in accordance with international law”.
