Airtel Africa's Payments Unit Airtel Money Unveils London IPO Plans

02:47 AM EDT, 09/23/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Airtel Africa's (AAF.L) mobile payments arm, Airtel Money, plans to launch an initial public offering and seek listing on the London stock exchange's Main Market. The offering will comprise a secondary offer of existing shares to be sold by certain existing shareholders, according to the company's intention to float document published Wednesday. The final offer price will be determined after the prospectus is published, subject to the completion of a book-building process around mid-October. Airtel Money noted that International Finance Corp. agreed to acquire shares worth 67.2 million pounds sterling under the offering as a cornerstone investor. The company engaged Citigroup Global Markets as sole sponsor, lead left global coordinator and a joint bookrunner. Barclays Bank, Merrill Lynch International, Goldman Sachs Bank Europe and J.P. Morgan Securities will act as joint global coordinators and joint bookrunners. Absa Bank, BNP Paribas, Emirates NBD Capital, First Abu Dhabi Bank, Jefferies International and The Standard Bank of South Africa will be joint bookrunners. BTIG LLC will act as co-bookrunner. Airtel Money, owned 77.85% by telecommunications company Airtel Africa, operates its digital financial services platform across 13 African markets. Following the offering, Airtel Africa intends to remain a long-term strategic shareholder in Airtel Money.
