With a market cap of $110.9 billion, Robinhood Markets, Inc. (HOOD) operates a digital platform for investing and personal finance. The platform enables users to trade stocks, ETFs, American depositary receipts, cryptocurrencies, options, and futures, while also offering features such as fractional investing, retirement accounts, margin investing, and cash management services.

Companies valued at more than $10 billion are generally considered “large-cap” stocks, and Robinhood Markets fits this criterion perfectly. Robinhood aims to make financial markets more accessible through user-friendly technology, educational resources, and innovative financial products.

Shares of the Menlo Park, California-based company have decreased 19.2% from its 52-week high of $153.86. Over the past three months, its shares have increased 17.5%, surpassing the broader Nasdaq Composite’s ($NASX) 6.5% rise during the same period.

The stock is up 9.9% on a YTD basis, underperforming NASX's 17.2% gain. Longer term, shares of the financial services company have fallen marginally over the past 52 weeks, compared to NASX’s 20.7% return over the same time frame.

HOOD stock has been trading below its 200-day moving average since November last year.

Robinhood Markets has underperformed over the past year due to weakness and volatility in cryptocurrency trading, which has reduced transaction activity and exposed the company to swings in retail trading sentiment. The company also faces intensifying competition across crypto and brokerage services, along with regulatory uncertainty surrounding digital assets, tokenized securities, and event contracts. Concerns over elevated valuation, slowing core trading activity, and regulatory and compliance risks have further weighed on the shares.

In comparison, rival Morgan Stanley (MS) has outpaced HOOD stock. MS stock has soared 12.8% on a YTD basis and 24.6% over the past 52 weeks.

Despite the stock’s underperformance over the past year, analysts remain bullish about its prospects. HOOD stock has a consensus rating of “Strong Buy” from 27 analysts in coverage, and the mean price target of $131.58 is a premium of 5.9% to current levels.
