MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — General Mills Inc. (GIS) on Wednesday reported fiscal first-quarter profit of $397 million.

The Minneapolis-based company said it had profit of 74 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and costs related to mergers and acquisitions, were 75 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 72 cents per share.

The maker of Cheerios cereal, Yoplait yogurt and other packaged foods posted revenue of $4.39 billion in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $4.34 billion.

General Mills expects full-year earnings in the range of $3 to $3.20 per share.
