Ventura, California-based The Trade Desk, Inc. (TTD) operates as a technology company in the United States and internationally. The company has a market cap of $6 billion and creates, manages, and optimizes digital advertising campaigns across ad formats, channels, and devices, including CTV and other video, display, audio, and native on televisions, streaming devices, mobile devices, computers, and more.
Companies with a market cap of $2 billion to $10 billion are typically called “mid-cap stocks.” TTD fits squarely into that category, with its market cap exceeding this threshold and reflecting its substantial size and influence in the advertising agencies industry.
Despite that, the stock currently trades 77.5% below its 52-week high of $56.39, recorded on Oct. 7, 2025. TTD stock has fallen 29.3% over the past three months, lagging behind the State Street Communication Services Select Sector SPDR ETF’s (XLC) 4.9% rise during the same time frame.
In the longer term, TTD has delivered a similar performance. The stock has declined 72.9% over the past 52 weeks, lagging behind the 4.9% fall of XLC over the same period. TTD has been trading below its 200-day moving average since last year, showcasing long-term bearish momentum, and also below its 50-day moving average since August.
On Aug. 7, TTD stock plunged 21.9% following the release of its weaker-than-expected Q2 2026 earnings. The company’s revenue for the quarter amounted to $715.1 million, failing to meet the Street’s estimates. Additionally, its adjusted EPS also failed to surpass the consensus estimates, coming in at $0.34. TTD’s operating margin also contracted severely, declining from 16.8% in the previous year’s quarter to 14.2%, with a drop in its cash flow margin as well. Management also issued a Q3 revenue guidance of $650 million at the midpoint, which also came in below analyst estimates, while citing internal execution challenges alongside macroeconomic pressures for its decline.
When stacked against its peer, Omnicom Group Inc. (OMC) has declined 1% over the past year, rallying TTD.
Wall Street has a skeptical view of the stock currently. Among the 37 analysts tracking TTD, the overall consensus stands at a “Hold.” Its mean price target of $13.63 suggests 7.5% upside potential from current price levels.
