According to Zhitong Finance App, China Iron and Titanium (00893) announced that on September 24, 2026, Aba Mining (an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of the company) signed a 2026 project contract with the contractor relating to the second phase of underground filling and ground filling facilities for the Maoling-Yanglongshan iron ore mine. The total contract amounts to RMB 3 million and RMB 1.95 million respectively.

The first project contract in 2026 is that the contractor shall be responsible for the second phase of the civil and steel structure project for Maoling-Yanglongshan iron ore tailings filling (that is, the process of recycling washed tailings or mining waste to fill underground mining areas to provide structural stability and reduce environmental risks) (underground filling). The scope of work includes the design, manufacture and construction of civil engineering for steel structures and auxiliary facilities related to underground filling (phase II underground filling). For the avoidance of doubt, the first construction contract in 2026 is an extension of the first project contract in 2025.

The second project contract in 2026 is that the contractor shall be responsible for civil construction and site engineering (including related geotechnical interfaces) (ground filling facilities) for the underground filling system of the Maoling-Yanglongshan Iron Mine.

Aba Mining also previously signed a 2025 project contract with the contractor relating to the first phase of the underground filling and magnetic separation facility upgrade project.

In view of ongoing environmental compliance responsibilities and China's domestic green mining framework in recent years, underground filling and ground filling facilities form part of the Group's operational upgrades to further reduce the impact on the surface environment. As part of Aba mining waste management, such filling infrastructure and facilities can reuse large amounts of tailings underground, thereby reducing the scale and risk of underground tailings depots. At the same time, they can also stabilize underground rock structures, protect ground infrastructure, and ensure worker safety.

The magnetic separation facility upgrade project aims to meet the ongoing challenges facing China's steel supply chain. It supports the Group's gradual transformation of its downstream washing capacity from producing existing high-grade iron concentrates to producing ultra-high-grade iron concentrates (that is, TFE content greater than 70%). This phased upgrade is in line with the Group's strategy as it continues to improve the current operating environment in the steel industry and enrich its product portfolio.
