EU Commission OKs Neuraxpharm, Minoryx's Neurodegenerative Disease Drug Nezglyal

04:06 AM EDT, 09/25/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The European Commission approved Neuraxpharm Group and Minoryx Therapeutics' oral medicine Nezglyal as the first pharmacological treatment in the European Union for cerebral Adrenoleukodystrophy, a rare neurodegenerative disease. Nezglyal, or leriglitazone, is indicated for male patients with cerebral Adrenoleukodystrophy aged two to 12, with Gadolinium-negative brain lesions, according to a Friday release. The approval is based on results from the phase 2/3 Nexus study and further real-world data gathered from other programs. The marketing authorization under exceptional circumstances for Nezglyal is valid across all 27 EU member countries, as well as Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. The initial roll-out is expected in Germany by the end of 2026.
