To own EQ Resources, you need to buy into a fairly simple idea. This is a tungsten producer trying to move closer to the value added end of the chain while still proving it can turn fast revenue growth into sustainable profits. The Springer APT joint venture plugs the company into future U.S. processing throughput, but the mine, mill and plant are only expected to restart from late 2027 and 2028. In the near term, the story is still about executing at existing operations, dealing with an unprofitable A$75.4 million revenue base and managing a share price that has risen strongly over 12 months but has been choppy over the past quarter.
The Springer deal is capital intensive for the partners, with The Elmet Group earmarking up to US$175 million and the APT facility itself needing staged spending as throughput ramps. EQ Resources does not operate the Nevada plant yet still depends on it to process up to 25% of input volume, so any slippage in Blue Moon or Elmet’s timelines could weigh on the tungsten refining narrative. Add in prior shareholder dilution, higher risk funding sources and a P/S ratio of 30.7x, and the near term catalyst list sits right alongside some fairly clear financing and execution questions.
Even so, there is one structural vulnerability in the EQ Resources story that does not sit comfortably with this U.S. refining pivot...
