Key Points

  • The stock has also outperformed the market this year.

If you're looking for monthly dividends from S&P 500 stocks, you don't have many choices. There are just a couple of such stocks in that index, as most dividend-paying companies distribute their payouts quarterly.

One S&P 500 stock that pays 12 times a year is Healthpeak Properties (NYSE: DOC), a real estate investment trust (REIT) that owns hundreds of healthcare discovery and delivery properties, including outpatient treatment centers, labs, senior housing, and related facilities.

A $25,000 investment in Healthpeak would buy you about 1,231 shares at the current price of around $20.30. The company's current monthly dividend is just slightly over $0.1033 a share, resulting in a 6.02% dividend yield. So, each month you would see just over $127 deposited to your account. That's a nice income stream.

Plus, the stock's return so far in 2026 is double that of the broader market, as measured by the S&P 500 index. That index is up about 12.5% this year, while Healthpeak stock has climbed just over 26%.

Finally, healthcare stocks tend to weather recessions and downturns better than stocks in many other sectors, as demand for healthcare doesn't fall off as much as, say, consumer discretionary or technology.

So Healthpeak is a solid income stock that has also performed well this year.
