SET and FETCO join Thai government roadshow in New York and London, attracting
strong interest from global investors
KEY POINTS
- SET and FETCO joined the Prime Minister's delegation on a roadshow in New York
and London from September 22-25, 2026, meeting with leading global
institutional investors and showcasing Thailand's economic potential. In
partnership with Bank of America, Jefferies and UBS, the delegation hosted 43
investment firms, representing combined AUM of more than USD 48 trillion*.
Participants included leading global investment firms such as BlackRock,
Blackstone, Citadel, Fidelity and Schroders, with senior executives from nearly
all of participating institutions in attendance.
- Foreign institutional investors in both New York and London expressed strong
interest in Thailand's geopolitical positioning, the impact of the situation in
the Middle East on energy prices and Thailand's economic growth, political
stability, and the continuity of government policies. Investors also highlighted
Thailand's potential to benefit from the new investment cycle and strengthen
its position as an investment destination for New Economy businesses.
BANGKOK, September 28, 2026 - The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and the
Federation of Thai Capital Market Organizations (FETCO) joined Prime Minister
Anutin Charnvirakul on a roadshow in New York, U.S., and London, U.K., from
September 22-25, 2026, as part of his mission to attend the 81st Session of the
United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81). Leading Team Thailand, the Prime
Minister presented the country's economic policy direction and investment
opportunities to foreign institutional investors, accompanied by Deputy Prime
Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime
Minister and Minister of Commerce Suphajee Suthumpun, Minister of Digital
Economy and Society Chaichanok Chidchob, and Minister of Public Health Pattana
Promphat. Forty-three investment firms, with combined assets under management
(AUM) of over USD 48 trillion*, attended the investor meetings, providing an
opportunity for direct engagement with the country's leaders.
SET President Asadej Kongsiri said: "In New York, investors placed the greatest
emphasis on Thailand's neutral stance amid geopolitical volatility, viewing it
as an 'opportunity' rather than a risk. Investors indicated that maintaining
this position could help attract investment from a wider range of countries. At
the same time, investors were monitoring the situation in the Middle East, which
could put pressure on energy prices and weigh on Thailand's economic growth.
The Prime Minister addressed this concern by outlining plans to reduce reliance
on imported energy through the transition to renewable energy and investment in
smart grid infrastructure, while highlighting the JUMP+ and BOI to IPO programs
as initiatives to attract New Economy businesses to list on the Thai capital
market."
"Institutional investors in London placed the emphasis on political stability,
followed by the momentum of Thailand's new investment cycle, as reflected in
record-high investment promotion applications from the Board of Investment
(BOI), with Thailand prioritizing the quality of investment over quantity.
Investors also emphasized the importance of policy continuity and the
government's ability to deliver tangible results, key factors in reinforcing
their long-term confidence in Thailand," Asadej added.
FETCO Chairman Paiboon Nalinthrangkurn said: "Since the beginning of 2026,
foreign capital has started flowing back into the Thai stock market, amounting
to USD 1.5 billion, or 10 percent of the more than USD 15 billion that flowed
out over the past three years. This is a promising early sign, with further
upside supported by greater political stability, a clear long-term economic
strategy, and a recovery in listed companies' earnings. The in-person
participation of senior executives from leading New York-based investment firms
is specifically encouraging, as U.S. institutional investors typically focus on
developed and larger emerging markets and engage directly when they see
compelling long-term opportunities. Investors focused particularly on the
government's policy direction, execution challenges, including financial and
Thai baht stability, all of which were addressed directly by the Prime Minister
and his delegation. I believe this engagement has strengthened investors'
understanding and confidence in Thailand's economic outlook and the long-term
opportunities in the Thai capital market."

*The number of investment firms and total AUM exclude double counting of firms
met in both New York and London.
