On September 29, the Chinese Academy of Sciences announced the “Scientific Frontier Limits Breakthrough Plan” and its first batch of projects at a press conference held in Beijing. The first 10 projects launched focused on cutting-edge “quadrupole” issues such as new nucleosynthesis, the nature of dark energy in dark matter, microscopic measurement of chemical bonds, and artificial synthesis of cells. At the same time, a series of key reforms were proposed in the management and evaluation methods of scientific research projects.
