Hogs Fading Back on Wednesday

Lean hog futures are trading with midday 12 to 45.  USDA’s national base hog price was tallied at $77.46 in the Wednesday AM report, down 55 cents from the day prior. The CME Lean Hog Index was down another 27 cents on September 28 at $80.94. 

USDA’s pork carcass cutout value was back down 28 cents in the Wednesday morning report, at $87.49. The ham and butt primals were the only reported higher. Federally inspected hog slaughter for Tuesday was estimated at 493,000 head, with the weekly total at 977,000 head. That was 30,000 head above last week and 12,704 head larger than the same week last year.

Oct 26 Hogs  are at $78.950, down $0.425,

Dec 26 Hogs  are at $69.575, down $0.125

Feb 27 Hogs are at $70.350, down $0.275,
