David Ellison, Chairman and CEO of Paramount, appointed former Mattel CEO Inon Kreez as the company's new co-CEO to drive the company's $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Ellison will continue to be the chairman of the merged company, and company executives will report to both at the same time. Ellison said Kreiz will bring the leadership experience and operational capabilities required for this integration. The appointment is part of Paramount's preparations to establish a new entertainment group, which will integrate two major film studios, streaming platforms, television networks, and news businesses. On Wednesday, a federal judge in California approved a plan to resolve lawsuits by 12 state attorneys general against the deal, removing obstacles to the completion of the deal. Paramount is expected to complete the acquisition on October 6. Under the terms of the settlement, the company promised to release at least 30 movies a year and set up independent editorial committees for news agencies such as CBS and CNN.
