When a single insider purchases stock, it is typically not a major deal. However, when multiple insiders purchase stock, like in Corpus Resources Plc's (LON:COR) instance, it's good news for shareholders.
While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.
In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when insider James Stenhouse bought UK£106k worth of shares at a price of UK£0.0001 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, at around the current price, which is UK£0.0001. Of course they may have changed their mind. But this suggests they are optimistic. If someone buys shares at well below current prices, it's a good sign on balance, but keep in mind they may no longer see value. Happily, the Corpus Resources insiders decided to buy shares at close to current prices.

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Corpus Resources insiders own about UK£182k worth of shares. That equates to 29% of the company. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.
The fact that there have been no Corpus Resources insider transactions recently certainly doesn't bother us. On a brighter note, the transactions over the last year are encouraging.
