04:33 AM EDT, 10/02/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The euro area recorded a current account surplus of 265 billion euros in the four quarters to the second quarter of 2026, down from 304 billion euros a year before, European Central Bank data showed Friday. The decline reflects a lower surplus for goods, a growing secondary income deficit, partially offset by a larger surplus for primary income. Meanwhile, the surplus for services remained stable.
