According to Woofun AI, the HKSAR Government has issued the fourth batch of digital green bonds, totaling US$2.55 billion, setting a new record for the world's largest digital bond issuance.

The offering covered four currencies. Among them, the RMB denomination scale was the largest and had a period of up to 5 years. The subscription ratio ranged from 1.3 times to 11.3 times, which was exceeded across the board. Since its launch in 2023, the issuance scale has jumped from $100 million to 25 times the current size, and double the size of 2025.

According to data compiled by Woofun AI, the total circulation of HK$20 billion marks that the program has entered a mature expansion period.

At the technical level, the 2026 issuance is based on the HSBC Bank (HSBC.US) Orion platform and is directly connected to the Central Securities Depository System under the Central Money Markets Department. The core breakthrough was the implementation of tokenized processing of Hong Kong dollar deposits through the EnsembleTX platform for the initial settlement process, thereby architecturally digitally mapping the underlying assets.

This move makes the issuance compatible with traditional settlement methods, tokenized central bank currency, and tokenized deposit models at the same time. HSBC David Liao pointed out that this combination of choice diversity and interoperability validates actual market utility and lays the foundation for wider application.
