According to preliminary data released by Eurostat on October 2, due to the sharp rise in energy prices, the Eurozone inflation rate in September was 3.8%, up 0.6 percentage points from 3.2% in August, the highest level since September 2023. According to the data, energy prices in the Eurozone rose 18.8% year on year in September, up from 14.3% in August, which was the main factor driving up the overall level of inflation; service prices rose 3.2% year on year, up from 3.0% in August; food, alcohol and tobacco prices rose 1.4% year on year, up from 1.1% in August; and prices of non-energy industrial products rose 1.1% year on year, down from 1.2% in August.
