The Zhitong Finance App learned that Emera (EMA.US) agreed to acquire Canadian Utilities Ltd. through an all-share transaction of about 14.3 billion Canadian dollars (10 billion US dollars) to build a large-scale electricity and gas company with operations spanning from Florida to Alberta. The combined company's corporate value is approximately $72 billion and has 6 million customers, according to a statement issued on Tuesday. The two companies said it would be the largest single merger deal between Canadian companies and would form one of the top 20 North American utilities.
