The Monetary Authority of Singapore issued an AI risk management guide to support the implementation of artificial intelligence technology in the financial industry. The guidelines clarify regulatory expectations for artificial intelligence applications and apply to all financial institutions and all types of artificial intelligence technology. The HKMA's core requirement is for financial institutions to identify and strengthen supervision of AI risks while managing the risks posed by the use of AI by third parties. The HKMA plans to seek further comments from the financial industry in 2027 on supporting supplementary guidance for intelligent agent AI. The guidelines will take effect on October 7, 2027. Financial institutions are required to meet the regulatory requirements of Sections 3 to 4 by October 7, 2027, and implement Sections 5 and 6 by October 7, 2028.
