The Zhitong Finance App learned that Intel (INTC.US) CEO Chen Liwu said that the company will continue to cooperate with Elon Musk on the Terafab project. This is a bold attempt by the trillionaire to enter the production of cutting-edge chips.

Earlier this week, Musk said it was in discussions with TSMC on Terafab-related cooperation. The news hurt investors' feelings about Intel — the company signed a contract with Terafab as a development partner in April of this year.

Chen Liwu told the media before an event in Tokyo commemorating the 50th anniversary of the American company's entry into the Japanese market that Intel will continue to participate in the Terafab project.

The Terafab project is part of a wave of global governments and companies competing to expand production capacity for semiconductors and other critical components necessary to accelerate the implementation of artificial intelligence applications.

Factory production capacity for all kinds of products, from ball bearings, chip equipment, industrial chemicals to slide rails, has been fully filled, which is prompting the company to build more production lines.
