Engineers at ASML and its optical partner Carl Zeiss said in a peer-reviewed paper that as a successor to ASML's most advanced chip manufacturing equipment ASML.AS, the next generation of devices is expected to be launched within about 10 years. According to the paper, the device, named “Hyper NA,” will massively reuse the existing technology of the two companies while achieving more detailed circuit patterning, even though it still faces many challenges. ASML has begun developing the device, but has yet to commit to production.
