Emerging market stocks rebounded on Friday due to falling oil prices and easing market concerns about the sustainability of the AI investment boom. The biggest increase in the MSCI Emerging Markets Index reached 0.5%, ending two consecutive trading days of decline. However, due to higher crude oil prices earlier this week, rising US bond yields, and stronger dollar pressure on market sentiment, the index still faced a second consecutive week of decline. There are reports that OpenAI's annualized revenue is expected to reach or exceed 70 billion US dollars by the end of the year, easing market concerns that its revenue falls short of previous expectations, and boosting market risk appetite. Charu Chanana, Singapore's chief investment strategist at Saxo Capital Markets, said that the bigger question is whether this revenue can support the huge investment in AI infrastructure and the rising financing costs behind it. “The revenue story may still hold true, but the return logic still needs to be verified,” she said.
