05:32 AM EDT, 10/09/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Aditya Birla Renewables is in talks with Indian banks for $1.5 billion in long-term loans to help finance its $1.8 billion deal to buy Solenergi Power from Shell (SHEL.L, SHELL.AS), Reuters reported Friday, citing three bankers aware of the discussions. The sources reportedly said Aditya Birla Group's renewable-energy arm reached out to various Indian lenders, including the State Bank of India and HDFC Bank, for the potential long-term, Indian rupee-denominated loans, which would avoid a costlier bridge financing facility of $1.6 billion secured from MUFG Bank. Aditya Birla Renewables, Shell, SBI, HDFC, and MUFG did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
