The number of public electric vehicle charging stations that US charging companies plan to install this year is expected to be the same as in 2025, which hit a record high in the industry's history. Charging company executives said that thousands of new charging stations have been added this year, on the one hand, to facilitate long-distance travel for existing electric vehicle owners, while also serving the large influx of buyers entering the used electric vehicle market; on the other hand, it is also laying out infrastructure ahead of schedule for future demand for electric vehicles. Since Trump lifted tax credit policies and fuel economy regulations aimed at pushing Americans to abandon fuel vehicles, optimism in the electric vehicle industry has continued to decline. Major car companies have shelved their ambitious electric vehicle development goals, cancelled various model development plans, calculated billions of dollars in asset depreciation, adjusted investment direction, and returned to the fuel vehicle business. Even so, according to data from Paren, a data agency for the charging pile industry, as of the beginning of October, the US had added nearly 2,000 new charging stations and more than 12,000 supporting charging stations. The scale of addition was basically the same as last year. Last year, 3885 new charging stations were added in the US, supporting 1,839 charging stations. According to the data, the US currently has more than 80,000 public fast charging stations.
