The Ecuadorian police reported on the 12th that a prison in the north-central province of Santo Domingo de los Tsachillas occurred that day. At least 6 inmates absconded after cutting through the prison wall. Rainin Peralta, deputy commander of the provincial police division, told local media that at 7:30 on the same day, the police received an alarm message. Afterwards, they discovered a hole in the wall of a cell in the highest security level area of the province's Bellavista prison, and determined that several inmates had escaped from the prison through a pipe connected to the hole. Peralta said that the six fugitives are involved in crimes such as rape, murder, robbery, and possession of controlled items, and are in the criminal process stage or are serving their sentences.
