ASML (ASML) stock is inching lower ahead of the company’s fiscal Q3 earnings scheduled to be reported before the market opens on Oct. 14. Consensus is for the semiconductor equipment giant to record $12.47 in earnings per share (EPS), which would represent about a 94.5% increase on a year-over-year basis.
Despite recent pullback, ASML shares have been a lucrative investment in 2026, currently up nearly 50% versus the start of this year.
ASML stock’s year-to-date surge has not deterred options traders from betting on continued gains ahead.
According to Barchart, the put-to-call ratio on contracts expiring Oct. 16 sits at 0.88x currently, indicating a bullish skew (a reading below 1.00x is typically characterized as in favor of the bulls).
And the upper price on those options contracts is set at $1,783, signaling potential upside of about 4.58% in the semiconductor stock through the end of this week.
On the flip side, however, the technical setup heading into ASML earnings is not constructive; the company slipped through its 50-day and 100-day moving averages (MAs) today, indicating bears are taking control across multiple timeframes.
For long-term investors, the bull case extends beyond an earnings beat. As chipmakers continue to expand their manufacturing capacity, ASML shares stand to benefit from improving visibility into future demand.
The giant’s planned 30% increase in low-NA EUV production capacity for 2027 further supports the argument that the ongoing AI investment cycle could translate into sustained business growth.
ASML shares historically close each of the final three months of a calendar year in the green, a seasonal pattern that makes it even more attractive for the near term.
Plus, a small 0.53% dividend yield serves as the cherry on top for prospective buyers.
Investors could also take heart in the fact that Wall Street remains bullish on ASML stock for the remainder of 2026.
The consensus rating on the semiconductor equipment firm sits at “Strong Buy,” with the mean price target of about $2,365 indicating potential upside of more than 35% from here.
