05:03 AM EDT, 10/14/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The European Commission accepted Sanofi's (SAN.PA) commitments to resolve initial competition concerns over its alleged "disparagement campaigns" against CSL Seqirus' Fluad, the competing product to the French company's flu vaccine Efluelda, according to a Wednesday release. Under the now legally binding commitments, the Paris-listed pharmaceutical group would not issue promotional statements to healthcare professionals in Germany and France that could go against national vaccine recommendations, unduly imply that Efluelda is "safer or more effective," or that evidence for Fluad is "weaker" compared to that for its own vaccine, until March 2030. Sanofi also committed to correcting the potential impacts of the alleged campaigns by publishing a statement on its websites in Germany and France clarifying that national vaccine recommendations indicate equivalent efficacy for Fluad and Efluelda, with this statement to also be sent to healthcare professionals and Key Opinion Leaders in Germany. The commission launched a formal inquiry into the matter in June, followed by market-testing of Sanofi's commitments between July and August. A monitoring trustee will monitor the implementation of the commitments.
