REX Shares has launched the REX Peptide ETF (NASDAQ:PEPT), offering exposure to the peptide economy beyond Eli Lilly And Co (NYSE:LLY) and Novo Nordisk (NYSE:NVO), the two drugmakers dominating the GLP-1 market.

The ETF tracks the VettaFi Peptide Index, which spans 36 constituents across therapeutics, manufacturing and medical devices, nutraceuticals and supplements, and skincare. The index allocates at least 80% of its weight to pure-play peptide companies and limits individual holdings to manage concentration. U.S. companies account for 52.9% of the index, with international companies making up the remaining 47.1%.

The launch comes as demand for peptide-based treatments grows. J.P. Morgan Global Research forecasts the global incretin market, including GLP-1 drugs, will reach $200 billion by 2030. REX says PEPT also targets the manufacturing and delivery infrastructure supporting the industry’s expansion.

PEPT carries an expense ratio of 0.65%.

QUICK CONTEXT: Peptide Demand Extends Beyond GLP-1 Drugs

Peptides are molecules that help regulate biological processes and are increasingly being developed into targeted treatments. While GLP-1 drugs have brought peptide-based therapies into the spotlight through obesity and diabetes treatment, research is expanding into cardiovascular disease, oncology and rare diseases.

As adoption grows, pharmaceutical companies need manufacturing capacity and delivery infrastructure to support commercial production. REX’s PEPT aims to capture this broader ecosystem, rather than concentrating exposure solely on the companies selling leading GLP-1 drugs.
