Listen to the news

AbbVie Inc. (ABBV) is a global biopharmaceutical company headquartered in North Chicago, Illinois. It discovers, develops, manufactures, and commercializes medicines across immunology, oncology, neuroscience, eye care, and medical aesthetics. The company operates internationally, combining research, clinical development, production, and commercial capabilities to address complex diseases and expand its treatment portfolio. It has a market capitalization of $500.94 billion.

The company is expected to report its third-quarter results for fiscal 2026 on Oct. 30, before the market opens. Ahead of the release, Wall Street analysts are optimistic about the company’s bottom-line trajectory.

Analysts expect AbbVie to report diluted EPS of $3.76 for Q3, up 102.2% year-over-year (YOY). The company has beaten consensus estimates in each of the past four quarters. For full fiscal year 2026, Wall Street analysts expect the company’s diluted EPS to grow 39.4% to $13.94, then 15.1% to $16.05 in fiscal 2027.

Over the past 52 weeks, the stock has gained 23.7%, and over the past six months, it has climbed 34.8%. Meanwhile, the broader S&P 500 Index ($SPX) has increased by 16.2% and 10.8% over the same periods, respectively. Hence, AbbVie has outperformed the broader market over the past year. Next, we compare the stock's performance with its sector’s performance. The State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) has gained 22.2% over the past 52 weeks and 16.9% over the past six months. As a result, the stock has outperformed its sector over these periods.

AbbVie’s stock remains buoyant based on the Skyrizi and Rinvoq, which are offsetting continued Humira erosion after its loss of exclusivity. The two immunology drugs added $14.63 billion to the company’s topline in the first six months of this year. AbbVie has lowered its full-year 2026 adjusted diluted EPS guidance to $13.87-$14.07, from the prior range of $13.91-$14.11, a $0.04 reduction at the midpoint, due to the impact of the Apogee Therapeutics acquisition.

Recent clinical and regulatory developments have also boosted sentiment. AbbVie reported new findings this month from the Phase 3 AFFIRM study evaluating a new induction option with Skyrizi in adults with moderately to severely active Crohn's disease (CD), supporting its application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for approval of a subcutaneous induction dosing regimen. In September, the FDA approved Juvmo tablets as the first and only selective D1/D5 receptor agonist for the treatment of adults with Parkinson's disease.

Wall Street analysts have been bullish about AbbVie’s future. Among the 31 analysts covering the stock, the consensus rating is “Strong Buy.” The rating configuration is more bullish than it was three months ago, with 22 “Strong Buy” ratings now, up from 20. AbbVie also has two “Moderate Buys” and seven “Holds.” The mean price target of $281.70 implies only marginal downside from current levels. However, the Street-high price target of $320 implies a 12.9% upside.
