The Zhitong Finance App learned that on Monday, TSM.US (TSM.US) rose more than 3% to 425.84 US dollars. According to the news, it is reported that Samsung Electronics will use TSMC's 3 nm process to produce basic chips for Nvidia's next generation customized high-bandwidth memory (HBM). This will be the first time that Samsung and TSMC have cooperated with TSMC during the HBM manufacturing phase.

Sources said that Nvidia has requested Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron to use TSMC's process to manufacture NVHBM base chips and use sixth-generation DRAM technology to manufacture core chips. Samsung is reported to have accepted Nvidia's request after an internal review, but plans to maintain its internal production model to produce standard HBM and products customized for other customers.

This means that Samsung and TSMC will jointly develop substrates with a 3 nm process, with the ultimate goal of producing standardized products, thereby reducing the NVHBM quality verification steps.

Nvidia previously stated that its self-developed solution NVHBM can provide 30% higher memory bandwidth than the standard HBM4E while reducing power consumption by 15%. However, in order to achieve these benefits, Nvidia must ensure standardization among its memory vendors.

On October 15, TSMC announced third-quarter revenue of NT$1.49424 trillion, up 50.9% year on year, and net profit up 68.7% year on year. The company revised the US dollar revenue growth forecast to about 44% in 2026, and indicated that demand was still higher than supply.
