According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Portuguese Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation jointly held the 10th meeting of the China-Portugal Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation in Beijing on October 19, 2026. Minister of Science and Technology Yin Hejun and Portuguese Minister of Education, Science and Innovation Fernando Alexander attended the conference and signed the “Joint Statement of the 10th Meeting of the China-Portugal Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation”. The ministers of the two countries held bilateral meetings prior to the joint committee. The ministers of the two countries fully acknowledged the achievements of Sino-Portuguese scientific and technological innovation cooperation over the years, and both stated that they will carry out practical cooperation through personnel exchanges, joint funding, platform construction, etc. on areas of common concern between the two sides, such as the ocean and blue economy, energy and climate, batteries and hydrogen energy, health, aging health and medical technology, and scientific protection of cultural heritage, to contribute more scientific and technological strength to the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Portugal and contribute more wisdom between China and Portugal to address global challenges.
