EU, New Caledonia Sign Raw Materials Partnership

06:43 AM EDT, 10/20/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The European Commission and the government of New Caledonia, a French territory in the South Pacific, entered into a memorandum of understanding on sustainable raw materials value chains. The partnership will focus on attracting investments, sustainably exploiting mineral resources, providing workforce training, and researching mining technologies, among other objectives, according to a Tuesday release. Both parties will also work with European Union member states, the European Investment Bank, industry, and partners to create a clear roadmap for the agreement.
