According to people familiar with the matter, Nvidia is in talks to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in Australian AI cloud service provider Firmus. The company abruptly withdrew its IPO plan at the beginning of this month. This negotiation indicates that Nvidia may continue to support a number of companies known as new cloud vendors and whose business models have not yet been verified. These types of companies have heavily borrowed money to buy Nvidia GPUs to build data centers, and are now under financial pressure. The analysis shows that Nvidia has already covered more than 170 billion US dollars of risk exposure for such companies and other major customers, including providing credit guarantees to help them borrow money.
